TeamPlay Shoot at the Sir Francis Drake

We're in the process of putting together a really cool story on Mentoring 2.0 and TeamPlay for NewspOp. TeamPlay's founder is NBA star, Baron Davis who plays for the LA Clippers (used to play for the Golden State Warriors in Oakland).  I interviewed Baron last night but didn't snap a picture of that! Here's a couple of production stills of me and Jeremey setting up. Actually, i didn't do any set-up. I just pretended to. Not only did i not help set up, I broke the Drake.  I was trying to pull down one of their ancient shades that apparently hasn't been adjusted since the place was built and it just fell down. um, sorry. Last but not least, we have an artsy photo taken by Whit. We're artists after all. Oh! one more thing....Danny Glover made an appearance last night! and on his way out, he walked by me, i mean he was just sorta trying to get by me but he touched my arm and said "Hi, it's nice to see you" or something similiar and i just thought that was the most polite way to get through a crowd i have ever witnessed. I said, "It's nice to see you too and thanks for coming!" He is a truly, truly amazing actor and activist, SF born and raised.

Creative Commons on NewspOp

Here's our conversation with Jon Phillips from Creative Commons below. The big take-away for me is that CC licensing is more about trying to encourage sharing rather than restrict it. Glass full, rather than half empty type of deal.

Oh and to Tiil, I appreciate the capitalization of the word Blonde in your video. I'm going to submit that to Merriam-Webster as an official word change: standard capitalization of the word Blonde in all media, throughout the universe, in perpetuity. I think we deserve that after all we've been through.

Fair Use Expert

Michael C. Donaldson is coming on NewspOp to help us understand Fair Use when it comes to creating content online. I'm actually sorta starstruck because Michael is the former president of the International Documentary Association and to us documentary dorks, that's a big deal.

Yesterday the Center for Social Media at American University released their new report, "Code of Best Practices in Fair Use for Online Video." Lots of talk on Seesmic about copyright and fair use. The era of the Wild West Web is about over. The Law is coming to town and we have to start behaving. So, I invited one of the writers of the report, Michael Donaldson, onto NewspOp to discuss fair use on the internet.  Michael is very well known in entertainment law.  I actually have one of his books, "Clearance & Copyright"--  not exactly beach reading but a really informationl resource book. why not learn to be a better kisser? Yes, it's a little backwards. I'm not sure you would get to G base without being a good kisser first but nothing works the way it's supposed to anymore anyway.  William Cane, "The Kissing Doctor" will be on NewspOp to teach us how to perfect the art of kissing.
